Overall the glasses are good from Glasses USA and the prices but I have a real issue with customer service and returns.
I ordered 2 pairs of glasses, 1 for distance and 1 for reading. The frames are the same but I had chosen a different color of frame for the reading glasses so I could easily tell them a part. I placed my order and received it the following week. The prescription of the glasses was correct but I ended up with the same frame color. One should have been blue and the other one green.
I returned my reading glasses and asked to put the original lenses into the correct green frames. It took weeks for GlassesUSA to reply and confirm the frames I wanted. I replied with what I had said in my email and filled out the return form. A few more weeks go by and they said their was a mistake as they don't have that frame color anymore. I told them to just return my reading glasses as is in the original frames as having both frames the same color is not the end of the world.
In a week I get an email saying they are making my glasses and are almost done. Okay I though this is a little weird as they should just be mailing back my glasses. I waited a bit more and finally got my glasses back but they sent a pair for distance and not my reading ones. I called several times explaining the issue and finally got an email from the returns department saying I can't return them as it is beyond the 14-day return period as per their return policy.
Grrrr... I am sure disappointed as now I am stuck with 2 identical pairs of glasses and not the reading ones I needed. At this point I don't think it is worth fighting over as customer service seems to have real problems understanding instructions.
The glasses I did get are fine and look good but the one pair is not what I originally ordered. If by chance you have to deal with GlassesUSA returns department I wouldn't bother.
Pros
Good glasses and frames
Cons
Issues with returns and communicating with customer service
I gave this company a chance, and the lack of being able to adjust the frames makes mail order glasses useless. They offer no adjustment services for bow fitment or anything else. So, returned the items and expected a refund within a few days. Just contacted their live chat, and was told a number of times to be patient, the 30 days wait for refund is something I "agreed" to as it is their policy ... so, they want to hold on to your funds for weeks, up to a month!!! CROOKED. Returns are simple, you get the product back, and you execute the return of funds ... they do not do this. Glasses came out of Cali, returns went to Illinois, and they say they're located in NY. What that equates to is; they are middle men, and you can find better prices and services with another company, or even locally. This company is irrelevant and crooked.
Pros
Didn't have to leave the house
Cons
No adjustment services, keeps refund 30 days after return received
I returned my glasses for an exchange because I could not see distance clearly. I sent several emails and called them multiple times asking one question. "were the glasses made correctly or is the prescription wrong" ? I am absolutely positive they are going to send my original glasses back to me and claim that they remade them. They didn't respond to most of my emails, when they did respond the answer was completely irrelevant to the question I asked. Customer service can not answer questions over the phone. When I call I'm told that a manager is currently unavailable to talk, a manager will return my call the same day. No one has returned my phone calls. The return policy is 100% refund on 1st returns only. If you need to return them a 2nd time you can only get a store credit. My advise to everyone is. Buy your glasses somewhere else. if you buy them from GlassesUSA and need to return them, TAKE THE REFUND! DO NOT EXCHANGE THEM!
I received my replacement glasses after almost one month. I paid extra for the 1.6 Progressive lenses. The replacement glasses are the cheaper Progressive 1.5 lenses. The replacement glasses also do not have the blue light blocking option, I paid extra for that on my original pair. I highly doubt the smudge resist coating is on the new glasses as well. DO NOT BUY YOUR GLASSES FROM GLASSESUSA.COM!
Takes forever to get the glasses. First they shipped me an empty box. No kidding an empty box. Ok, it wasnt empty, it had a case in it. but no glasses. Waited 30 minutes on hold to speak with someone who didn't have a clear command of the english language. Couldn't understand a word they said. Then I went through the chat to see if I could figure out what happened. They said a mistake was made. The would have to remake the glasses and it would be another 2 weeks. Shipping is through USPS and it takes at least a week. So after a month I may....or may not get the glasses. Also be aware of the $7.95 glasses case they stick on to your order. I didn't even realize it was stuck on my bill.
Shipping took a long time with almost no updates through the provided tracking number. Received the glasses, and they were comically bad. It was almost as if the lenses were set crooked in the frames, causing my sight to be very distorted. Actually ended up taking them with me when I went to buy new glasses and the optometrist agreed that the lenses didn't even match the prescription number I provided.
The return policy on the website states that you can return your first order within 14 days, no questions asked for a 100% money back guarantee. Shipped out the glasses about a week after receiving them, using the return shipping label that THEY provided.
A few weeks go by, and I still haven't received any kind of update on the return process. Reached out to them, only to be told they supposedly never received my glasses and can't help me. They are asking for proof that I sent the glasses, but I'm not really sure how to do that since I used the shipping label that they provided to me. It's not like my mailbox prints out a receipt when I put things in it.
Overall, it's trash and I guess a good lesson in trying to cut corners. I'll just stick with going to the optometrist. The only silver lining is that now I know the process on how to dispute things through my bank, I guess?
Cons
Bad customer service, poor lenses, poor return process
