I recently started Ancestry.com again and have been enjoying it immensely. My grandchildren are of age where they are interested in finding out about their families past. The best way in my opinion is to show them. Using the original records and other people's family trees we have been able to trace our family tree back to the 1500's.

My grandson thinks this is pretty cool :-) and seeing all the old photos of their great great grandparents.

I am hoping to make a Family History book that includes a lot of this information and have it printed off to give to everyone this Christmas. This way the whole family can enjoy it.
Pros
So many records. Lots of information to process
Cons
Some technical glitches on the site where I have to reload the page.
Bottom Line
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

I like when you add family members to your tree the little green leaf icon comes up notifying you that Ancestry has further hints about your family and realtives. It's simply amazing how far back Ancestry can go in American history. My original family tree that my Grandmother had put together only went back about 3 generations and the information she had was pretty basic. On Ancestry I get access to birth and death records, photos and other people's family trees that integrate with mine. Half of my work on finding out who I am has already been done.

I give Ancestry 4 stars!

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

I did the DNA kit from Ancestry at first. It was interesting to find the percentages of where you come from in the world. Not sure how accurate it is as I am almost positive we have some Native American in our background on my Father's side from way back. I even have diary entries about it from my great grandparents along with the stories from my grandparents when I was young.

Besides that I really like the online Ancestry website. It is really detailed and easy to use.  I have already created a large family tree and even found someone else in the community who has created their own tree that works into mine only a few generations back. Searching for all the records is also unreal. It's amazing at all the information that is available.
Pros
Ancestry.com website
Cons
How accurate is the DNA testing?
Bottom Line
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

I like to think I was a budding genealogist when i came to Ancestry last year. It takes some time but I discovered a lot by building my family tree. I also found out that it is always an ongoing process that is never finished. I am currently working on 4 branches of my tree that has gone global. Who knew I had so many relatives living in Europe!  Each one of them has a story that I find interesting. It's amazing how family's change and grow over generations.

If you have an interest in your own family history and want to find out more, then Ancestry will give you access to millions of records and photos. It's definitely worth trying out, I am glad I did.
Pros
Easy to use. Lots of records from the United States and Europe
Cons
Subscription fees so it is something once started you should continue with or cancel.
Bottom Line
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

I have used a few genealogy sites and have gone back to Ancestry. While I am not a huge fan of the new format it still is miles better than the 2 other online services I tried. Ancestry also has the most records of any service I tried.

Public family trees have been really useful. I recommend to everyone make your tree public as it allows for easier collaboration.

Just remember that any photo you do upload becomes public domain.

I plan on trying out Ancestry's DNA testing soon. It looks interesting and I am curious to find out what other ancestors have been hiding in my background.
Pros
Better than other online genalogy services.
Cons
Old interface was better.
Bottom Line
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
