Well Review Chatter is up an running and in a beta state. The theme is about 85% final with only minor cosmetic changes left (hopefully Wink).

The listings are coming along nicely. We have over 10 listings now for the Eye Care and Weight & Diet categories. Some of the listing summaries are done and all of the attributes have been entered. As we add more listing the attributes may fluctuate a bit for each category until we can figure out the right balance between general attributes shared by most listings and unique attributes shared by listings of the same type.

I never thought I’d use the melodramatic phrase “cutthroat world” to refer to the streaming video industry, but I’m starting to think it’s the only appropriate way to describe it. There’s a vicious battle being raged online, and the casualties are starting to pile up.

2007 saw the launch of Netflix’s instant streaming video service, a small perk for subscribers who were already receiving DVDs by mail. Fast forward 5 years, and Netflix streaming subscribers now outnumber DVD-by-mail subscribers by more than 11 million.

That’s one-fourth of all Internet traffic in North America. Not bad for something that started out as a “small perk,” eh?
