The Bowflex TreadClimber TC200 has been revamped in 2016 with enhanced digital connectivity via Bluetooth and an updated console (the previous model was the TC20). This walking cardio machine is designed for low-impact workouts. The TreadClimber takes a treadmill and adds the motion of a stair climber and elliptical. With the TreadClimber each foot has it's own belt that not only rotates but moves up and down (at the front, it pivots at the back) as you walk. This motion replicates stepping and works your glutes and legs. Along with the aerobic workout you receive when using the TreadClimber it also helps develop your core muscles and improves balance.
Features
The TC200 has longer foot treadles than other models and comes with a speed range from 0.5 mph to 4.5 mph (in 0.1 mph increments). In terms of space the TreadClimber is 55" long by 31.5" wide, and 62.5" high. The treadles can reach a maximum height of 17" from the floor so you will need a room with a ceiling height of at least your own height + 19 inches. Included on the back of the TreadClimber are transport wheels which makes it easy for one person to move the TC200 202 lbs of weight around if needed.
The Bowflex Max Trainer M5 includes:
- Max speed of 4.5 mph
- 12 resistance levels
- Backlit LCD Display
- 4 User Profiles
- 5 Preprogrammed Workout Programs
- Bluetooth and synch support with phone apps
- Heart Rate Monitor in Grips and Wireless
- Integrated transport rollers
- 2 Water holders and extra large media shelf
How Does it Work
Once you have your TC200 assembled and setup you want to make sure you have at least a few feet of empty space on either side of the machine and about 5 feet behind it for easy access. When starting for the first time make sure you begin at a low resistance of around 3 or 4 and your speed at 1.5 to 2 mph. Also make sure you have the safety key clip attached to yourself which will stop the machine automatically if it gets pulled on.
When you have stepped on the TC200 and have the safety key attached the first thing you should do is select 1 of the 4 user profiles. If it is your first time you can customize your profile by holding the user button. From here you can then enter your weight, etc.. so that the proper heart rate for your age and calorie burn rate can be calculated correctly. For a quick start you can just go ahead and press the green start button. This will give you full control over speed as no program will be running to change your workout settings.
When walking on the treadles you want to make sure you walk on the front half of them. This way the treadles will fully move up and down as designed giving you a better cardio workout. When holding onto the the grips you also want to make sure you do not hold yourself up with them as the treadles will not move up and down as well.
Workout Programs
Once you are use to the machine you can go ahead and try the different programs available. The programs are pretty self explanatory and are called:
- Just Walk
- Calorie Goal
- Distance Goal
- Time Goal
- Intervals
For any of the programs you can adjust the speed as needed. The Calorie Goal program is affected by your heart rate. You can take your heart rate via the TC200 by either using the heart rate sensors that are integrated into the front grips or by using a wireless heart rate monitor. Your heart rate is displayed on the console and your current heart rate zone is also indicated by the light bar below the LCD display. It displays a different color depending on what zone you are in (Workout, Warm up, Fat burn, Cardio, and Performance).
Apps
With the built-in Bluetooth the Bowflex TreadClimber supports syncing your workout information like heart rate, distance and calories burned. You can use Bowflex's own TreadClimber app available on Android and iOS to track your fitness information or other popular apps like My Fitness Pal, Apple Health Kit, and Google Fit.
